About Scott Cook and the Second Chances
A roots balladeer with a rare personal warmth, Canada's Scott Cook has managed to distill the stories collected over eleven years touring across Canada, the USA, Europe, Asia, Australia and elsewhere into straight-talking, keenly observant verse. Road-worn, painfully honest, and deeply human, his tunes weave threads of folk, roots, blues, soul and country over spacious fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo arrangements. His fourth release, One More Time Around, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, and it's opening track "Pass It Along" won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, with UK magazine Maverick Country naming him "one of Canada's most inspiring and imaginative storytellers".
About Carolyn Harley
A singer/songwriter from Calgary, Carolyn performed Devils Sky at our Foothills Folk Club songwriter competition and earned herself first place. Come see what won our judges over as she opens the evening. Carolyn is a dynamic performer who loves being on stage and interacting with her audience. She believes in writing songs that matter and songs that connect. Whether she is on stage with her full band, with her trio, as part of a duo, or as a solo artist, her objective is always to connect with the people who came to hear her music.
